A military version of the Italian Piaggio four-engine transport has been announced. Obviously modeled after the original Boeing 299, the plane has four PXIIRC35 radials of 1,350 hp giving it a top speed of 290 mph. Only unusual feature is the pressure cabin in the bomber version.

This news clip was originally published in the "International Briefs" subhead of the "Aviation Abroad" column in the October, 1943, issue of Aviation magazine, vol 42, no 10, p 272.

Note: This probably refers to the Piaggio P.108 bomber, which was of little or no consequence. It is omitted from many compilations of WWII warplanes. —JLM
